Parks Remain Closed After Hurricane, Recovery Underway

Staff Report / lakelandlocal.org

**City of Lakeland Parks and Recreation Update: Hurricane Recovery Efforts**

As of Wednesday, October 16, the City of Lakeland's Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department has provided updates regarding the status of local parks following recent hurricane conditions. Detailed updates are available at Lakelandgov.net/ParkRecHurricane.

Several larger green spaces remain closed, including Holloway Park, Lake Parker Park, and Oak Hill Burial Park. The closures are due to extensive trails that require specialized equipment to address hazards such as downed trees and heavy brush. Additionally, some areas may have issues with standing water.

The department is actively working to assess and clear these parks, focusing on safety and timely reopening for the community. As recovery efforts continue, residents are encouraged to support the team working on the ground.
