Clearwater Waste Team Triumphs at Road-E-O Competition

Clearwater, Fla. – The Clearwater Solid Waste and Recycling Department recently competed in the Solid Waste Association of North America’s statewide Road-E-O competition held in Lakeland on May 2 and 3. Solid waste drivers from across Florida participated in the event, which included a written exam, safety inspection, and precision-driving course.

Tim Jones won first place in the Side Loader category and was honored as the “Top Gun” for best overall driver for the second consecutive year. Jones will represent the team at the international Road-E-O scheduled for Oct. 10-11 in Lake Mary, Fla. Josh Burdo placed third in the Rolloff category. Donald Holcomb, driving a rear-end loader, and Harlan Hamilton, driving a front-end loader, both also secured third place in their respective categories. Domingo Vega placed fourth in the Tractor Trailer event.

The City of Clearwater and its solid waste team expressed pride in the drivers' achievements, noting their hard work and competitive spirit.
