Orlando Hosts NFPA Fire Safety Event
Today, the Orlando Fire Department hosted an NFPA event in Orlando, Florida. The event was sponsored by the Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association (FFMIA) and was attended by personnel from various locations including Altamonte Springs, Mount Dora, Lakeland, Maitland, Seminole County, Groveland, the City of Orlando, and Orange County.
Anthony Apfelbeck, the NFPA 1 Technical Committee representative and Director of Building and Fire Safety for Altamonte Springs, led class sessions. His 35 years of code management experience was highlighted as he discussed the application of NFPA 1 Chapter 1, focusing on the authority of an Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for administering equivalencies, alternatives, and modifications of buildings. The sessions also covered processes involved with declaratory statements, interpretations, and administrative warrants.
Attendees included fire chiefs, fire marshals, fire inspectors, and fire service personnel who left the event with information on protecting the public, emergency response personnel, and property.
