Lakeland Parks Recovery Update After Hurricane Milton

Staff Report / lakelandlocal.org

The City of Lakeland's Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department has provided an update on the recovery efforts following Hurricane Milton. As of now, most parks and recreational areas have been cleared and reopened to the public. The department expressed gratitude to the community for their patience during the inspection and cleanup processes.

Though many spaces are accessible, a few green areas remain closed due to hazards, primarily related to tree-top branches that need specialized equipment for safe removal. Residents are encouraged to visit the city’s storm recovery page at Lakelandgov.net/ParkRecHurricane for up-to-date information on which areas are still closed.

The department continues to work on restoring parks, cemeteries, golf courses, libraries, and recreation complexes in a timely manner.
